Venezuela’s authorities met on April 16 in Caracas with high-level EU representatives to establish a work agenda for mutual cooperation, boosting trade and productive development.
Venezuelan National Assembly President, Jorge Rodríguez, announced this Thursday the establishment of a work agenda for mutual cooperation following a pivotal meeting in Caracas with high-level representatives from the European Union (EU), aimed at fostering productive development and revitalizing economic relations.
This meeting marks a concrete step in the ongoing dialogue between Venezuela and the European Union, highlighting a shared commitment to exploring and strengthening areas of common interest. Rodríguez emphasized the will to advance in this cooperation, underscoring the importance of collaborative initiatives for both regions.

In parallel, Johann Álvarez Márquez, the Minister of Foreign Trade, held a strategic meeting with the same EU delegation to define a roadmap for boosting commercial exchange and enhancing cooperation. Discussions centered on identifying new market opportunities for Venezuelan exports to the European continent and facilitating a reciprocal flow of goods.
“Our objective is to project the excellence of our talent and the quality of our national production, positioning Venezuela as a strategic, reliable, and high-potential destination for foreign investment”, Márquez explained.
A key point on the agenda involved a thorough analysis of measures for the reduction of tariff obstacles, an initiative seeks to dismantle existing trade frictions, thereby making Venezuelan products more competitive within the demanding European market. Furthermore, the discussions encompassed the crucial aspect of technology transfer. This framework aims to empower Venezuela’s productive apparatus not only to export raw materials but also to incorporate innovative processes through the adoption of European technical standards.
In this sense, the objective is to secure optimal access conditions that will mutually benefit producers and entrepreneurs from both regions, signifying a concerted effort to restore and expand economic partnerships.
These diplomatic activities follow a series of high-profile engagements earlier in the week. On Wednesday, the EU representatives met with Yván Gil, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, and the Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, which was focused on a joint work agenda designed to advance strategic areas towards a new stage of cordiality and productive relationship.
Text reads: “Cordial meeting with the Deputy Director-General for the Americas at the European External Action Service, Pelayo Castro, and his delegation to strengthen our cooperation with Europe on the basis of respect and constructive dialogue.”
This potential development signals a shift in the EU’s approach towards Venezuela, setting the stage for further diplomatic and commercial rapprochement. The comprehensive nature of these discussions, encompassing economic, commercial, and technological cooperation, positions Venezuela and the EU on a path towards a more integrated and mutually beneficial future.
